First ML Rifle
« on: April 15, 2008, 06:33:01 PM »
I have been pondering this for a while and I finally bought one. I got a Rem 700-ML in .54 cal stainless and scope for a decent price. I have done some research and I will be switching to the 209 ignition, but as cabelas won't ship it to canada is there anywhere here I could get one?

I have only fired a ML once so now I have to figure it out!

I have two of the 700's and you definitely want the Cabelas 209 conversion... Can a regular person ship the conversion to you?  I suspect the reason Cabelas will not is the extra paper work required...  How far from the border are you???

If you are going to shoot sabots from it might want to check out Nosler they are having a blow out sale on the 54 cal sabot 260 grain partition bullet..

Keep shooting muzzleloaders - they are a blast....

Make sure to read the stickys and make sure you read and see what is the max amount of power in that gun which depending on the model its 100 grains of power or 150. If you use loose Triple seven 120 grains is the same as 150 grains of any other blackpower or blackpower sub.

Also read the laws on what is legal as far as optics because they will be a great help, as I don't know anything about law in Canada.

Great rifle. My first inline was the same 700 54cal. SS. I stiill use it, more than any of the other ML's I own and I do have a 700 in 50cal.
My 54 I shot for many years with just the #11 niple useing CCI mag caps with T7 loose powder.

I switched to the 209 system and was told it is Canadain from Qu.
Check with gander mountian or bass pro shop.

The 54.

The 50.

The 54cal of mine loves 100gr. T7 purple MMP sabots and 50cal.  300gr HP Speer Gold Dots.

You will want to get one of these for taking the bolt apart for  cleaning.
I got it at Gander mountian for $10.00.
