It probably is not harmed. But you won't know until you take a look. Its not complicated, takes a simple hex key and in under a minute you could have it out, look at it and put it back in.
I have dry fired mine. Did not harm the spring at all. I learned of this being harmful (some times) after the fact like you and so I took a look at it.
I understand that what happens is that it can collapse the spring and reduce the firing pin retraction capability of the spring. In a bad case it can cause the firing pin to stick or cause a soft strike.
