Has anyone made a special order through Henry?
« on: April 06, 2008, 07:11:11 PM »
I am thinking about buying a pair of Henry Golden Boys and have them custom engraved to mark my sons birth, and my tour here in Iraq/retirement.  I may even try and pick up a third one for "Grandpa".
Have any of you guys requested anything like this from Henry? I know they offer it on their website, but I am curious as to the quality of work on the engraving. The company says all you have to do is order the engraved receiver covers from them and put them on yourself.
Any idea if it's possible to get sequential numbers?
The problem with troubleshooting is....sometimes it shoots back!

I would call and ask them about the details.

I have dealt with their customer service before, and they were top notch on giving information, and helping me out, I think they would be your best source of information also.  They are a smaller company, so it isn't like calling remington, you don't get sent back and forth all over on recordings.

I bought 2 rifles and ordered 2 covers for my grand kids (ages 15 months and 18 months I know dumb thing to do) and they look good. You can tell they are not hand engraved and the recessed areas are black but they look good. The covers are not to bad to replace, the instructions are a little intimidating.

I was a little disappointed with the ordering process. I emailed Henry to ask about formate and the composition of the message I wanted. Supposedly Mr A. Imperato (president) responded and said to email or call them with what I wanted to say and they would do the rest. I don't think Mr. Imperato has talked to the workers. I called and the guy at the other end did not want to that my order by phone ( I don't put my credit card numbers on the internet). After I got over that hurdle I told them what I wanted to say and asked how they would word it. The guy tell me that it is up to me and I keep asking what would look better and again I am told "it is up to me". So know what you want before you order.

Also when they say 45 days they mean 45 days and they do not notify you when they ship.

 Hope that helps. Ken
