Hi Ted,
I have one of the first lefties when they came out. I got a 110FPL in 3006, and it has the older style trigger, which I still prefer.
In it I tried a load that I found was the most accurate in an old Remington Sportsman 74 auto that I had, and it was so good, I never changed it.
My load:
Win or Rem cases.
Nosler .308 165 Grain Ballistic Tip
48.5 Grains of IMR 4064
CCI or Win Large Rifle Std Primer.
This load will group .75 inch at 100 yards, and I am not that good. My shoulder starts to quiver because I dont shoot center fire as much as I used to, and I still get .75 inch groups. I know that some one who was a better shot than me could maybe get half inch groups with my rifle.
I shoot off a Hoppes Bench Rest stand with the front and rear sand bags, and I mounted a Burris 3x9 scope on it.
In my M2 Ball load with 150 FMJBT, I switched from 48.0 Grains of IMR 4064, to 48.0 Grains of Accurate XMR-4064 for shooting out of an 03A3, and an M1, and it works great. I havent switched to it in my savage tactical, but I intend to when I reload up my next batch.
