  Well, I would have posted this a few days ago. But, I had encountered a hard drive meltdown. Anyway, last week my custom made Dahlgren carriage arrived and I'm a Happy Camper! Dom did a Great Job as always! I think it looks much better than the crummy wooden carriage that it came on.  Now, I  just need to clean up that SBR tube. ;D  Thanks Again Dom!!!!

DOM IS THE MAN!!!! Looks great intoodeep! Still waiting on my 1" Dahlgren with cast iron Marsilly carriage from SBR. Wish now i would have just ordered the tube, and got a carriage from Dom.

     Dominick sure does a great job!  Congratulations, intoodeep, you now own a very nice looking small Dahlgren gun.  Are those round headed bolts with nuts on the inside or what?  Any idea of the weight?  Mike and I just rec'd  two brass molds in .985" size yesterday from JJ Tanner in the U.K.   I cast a few balls from each and found they are well made and cast lead balls about .003" under the stated size.  If you want a few to send into the desert, let us know. 

Gotta love those Dahlgrens!

Hey Guys,

 Thanks for the good words. Dom is the man! The whole thing is 41#. As, for the "round head bolt" they do not have nuts on the back. I believe that they are just pressed into pockets. But, I'll let Dom say for sure.

M&T, Thanks for the offer of the lead balls. I may take you up on a couple. I'll let you know. Also, could you PM me the price and details of the mold?

 WOW! What a super cool gun.

 Yup, that steel carriage does indeed look a whole lot better than the glued-together-match-stick model. I suspect it will stay together after more than one shot too!

  When I install the rivets on the Dahlgrens and the Dictators, I use a steel rivet the same length as the thickness of the plate, countersink the backside of the plate with a larger drill bit, weld the rivet where it protrudes through the countersink area, and grind flush with the plate.  Thanks for the compliments everyone.  Aso, I am working on building an accurate looking steel Dahlgren barrel for the next one.  Dom

 Well... I'd think maybe a Big Brother. But, what are you hiding from us ?? Are you keeping Dom busy or, are your wheels just starting to spin?? ;)
