Looking for new powders ??

So far all of my powder choices have been with Hodgdon's , Alliant and IMR , now I am looking to expand my cabnet some and need some advice from you all . Most of what i load is small to mid bore CF rifles .

Is there any 2 or 3 powders that i should be looking at that i do not use now , Something that performs well in a given round or one that will do well in a few ?

Give me some ideas .  ;)

In addition to what you have mentioned, I been very happy with WW 748, and 760.

Take a look at the Ramshot line.  I've found Ramshot Tac to be quite versitile and very useful in .223 and similar cases.  Check prices also.  Much cheaper than many others.

I have developed a very accurate load for one of my 223's using VihtaVuori N133 and 50 grain V-Max bullets. There are a lot of bench rest folks using this powder in their 6mm and 22 PPC's. I had tried several powders for this gun and did not have satisfactory results, until I tried N133. It is not cheap and some times hard to find. I only live about 25 miles from Sinclair International (located just South East of Fort Wayne, IN) and I get it there. With smaller cases (smaller than 223) you might have better luck with N130 or N120, but the same problem with cost and finding it. The last time I was at Sinclair's I got 4 pounds of N133 and they only had 7 on hand. That was a few months ago. I am sure they are restocked. You can go to their web site to find out. BTW N120 looks to be a good powder for the .218 Bee and similar sized cases. Good Luck and Good Shooting. :) :)

I forgot to mention that VV N133 is similar to IMR 4198 on the burning chart, but I found that it takes a little more of the N133 than it does of IMR 4198. I think you could use it in cases where IMR 4198 is called for, like 221 Fire Ball, 222 Rem (read 224GNR), 223 and similar sized cases.

Other options include AA2015 which in some cartridges is close to IMR3031, and AA-9 which is a tad faster than H110.
