Need load info
« on: April 05, 2008, 04:46:47 PM »
Someone gave me some 100 grain Speer roundnose plinkers in .308 diameter?  Does anyone have a load for a .308 or 30-06.  I'm using 760 ball and Reloader 15 powders.

Thanks

I think 110 grn load data is fairly common for the 308 & 30-06, you could look to that. I would use those bullets for initial scope setup or practice myself & not try to load them to hot.

i have used them in a .308 with relatively dismal results. the faster they went, the worse they grouped. dont think ill be trying them again anytime soon.

Are they good enough for varmints with light load data for a 110 gr bullet?  I have a laser boresighter which gets me on paper at 100 yards, sometimes with amazing results.  Saves cartridges when sighting in.

Some of those RN bullets, in that weight range, are meant for something like a 30 Carbine. They're probably not gonna be very accurate, unless you load them way down. Seems like I remember lite loads listed in my LEE manual. I'd have to check tonite when I get home.
I had a lot of fun with 110gr HPs out of a 308, 300WM, and even some from a 300Ultra MAg. They proved a lot more accurate than I would have figured.
