used brl with a tight fit

Has anyone bought a used barrel that fit as tight as the factory brl without any fitting required. I can't get my smallest feeler gage to fit when the brl and action are locked in the fully closed position. The release button does have a little bit of play. I guess I thought I was doing something wrong, it should not be this easy. Is this normal.

Lots! You don't insert the feeler gauge blade with the action closed, you close the action on the blade. If you can't pull the blade out, or it's hard to pull out, it's a tight fit. Latch engagement needs to be checked too.
