Advice For A Newbie
« on: April 08, 2008, 01:28:33 PM »
I am interested in a good rifle with multiple barrels for deer hunting.  I want a rifle I can get comfortable with that does both .50 black powder and does .308 for regular hunting season.  I have heard nothing but good things about H&R and think this is the way I want to go.

I have not seen a .50/.308 combo and my local gun shop does not carry H&R at all, but is willing to order ... for a fee.  What is the best way to get the rifle I am looking for?  Should I be concerned about the plant closure impacting having the rifle in time for hunting season this year?

Thanks!

Welcome! Have him order a 308 Handi for ya, then send it in for a Huntsman barrel, that's about the only way to get there since the Huntsman is only available as an accessory barrel, it's no longer made as a rifle or in a combo. The Gardner plant closing may delay fittings, but now thru August is their slow time anyway, if you act right away and get it in to them, they should have you all set by hunting season.  ;)
