Glenfield accurasy
« on: April 11, 2008, 03:55:12 AM »

Circle is 3 3/8" DIA.  Home made target: I traced a can of beans onto a colorful junk mail flyer.

This is a fairly common shooting distance for me when hunting mulies in the foothills.  But 150 grain core-lockt still has plenty of power to topple any buck that ever roamed this country.

30-30 is a keeper!

Not bad!  Iron sited or scoped?  If that's with Iron sites your better than me!
If I remember correctly Glenfield was the department store version of the Marlin 336 and were sold at Sears and Wards.  All in all not a bad gun. My sons and their friends have Glenfield model 60 .22's.  They're identical to the Marlin model 60.

This is my Glenfield carbine.  It was purchased at Western Auto in Lusk, Wyoming.

I was told by a competent smith that the stock is beech and not birch.  Finish is original.

Scope is Simmons 2X - 7X that has proved it's toughness many times while hunting in rough country.  Worst weather was - 4 not counting wind factor.
