Did anyone get enough ice, this winter?

To do any ice fishing? Wasn't enough to get out around here. Funny weather, in Illinois this year, so far.

I had plenty, as a matter of fact the lake here in town is still covered. It got to about 30" in late Feb. I'm located in south central Mn. this is the most I've seen in the six winters I've lived here. Last Sat. afternoon I saw a few out fishing still, not for me as I tend to prove all of Newtons laws regarding gravity. I did real well on the Pike this year but Crappies evaded my best efforts. Went up to Lake of the Woods early March and got a nice mess of < 16" Sauger & Walleyes, to far to drive for the catch, but it was much better than work. I grew up in Il. and understand the frustration of ice in and out 3 times and never over 3" to walk on. But you save $ on power auger, fish house, heater gas, Vexilar, and the other toys.

I think I'd rather have more ice and be able to sit in a nice warm fish house instead of a bucket in the wind.

I've got Morrison Rockwood State Park in my back yard (almost) and I'm about 10 miles from the Mississippi River.  I wanna say that we had decent ice up to about 3 weeks ago on the river sloughs and Lake Carlton in the state park.  It went quick though.

Do any of you ever bother to push the transducer on your depth finder around on the ice to Locate?
I always wanted to try this and Bottom Line (my manufacture) would recommend placing the transducer in a plastic pail with a little water to enhance the signal. I never did do this cause I didn't want the thing to freeze up solid!
This is not really a big deal cause when it gets cold, there is plenty of Coyotes to hunt.
