Low wall scope question
« on: November 04, 2009, 08:41:21 AM »
I am wanting to scope my low wall.  I have a set of millet dovetail rings laying around from a previous adventure.  If I buy a leupold two piece base will my rings fit or is the leupold different.  I know my rings will fit in redfield base but never tired them in any others.  Any light shed appreciated.

Redfield invented them, everyone else copied the patent when it expired or maybe it was when they went out of business. They are generic and all will work. I really still prefer to use same brand base and rings but many times have not. Sadly that is the only type bases I've ever found to fit the LW. I hate that generic base/ring combo and use it only when nothing else can be found. These days it's hard enough to find even those for thef LWs so you're stuck with it. Use whatever rings ya want.

Thanks Greybeard.  This thing had a vintage scope on it when I bought it that got moved to a period rifle so I now am in the process of putting a moden scope on it.  Found a set of bases for 14 bucks on evil bay and wanted to be sure my turn in rings would fit.  My rings may be redfield, and the base was millet not sure but it was a mutt combo many years back and only the rings remain.  Thanks again.  SN
