Marlin Model 36 A

Sorry about the retraction on 13 April 08. I dislike asking questions that are poorly written or state the obvious.
Last Sunday a friend and I went to a gun show at Fondulac, Wisconsin. This is normally a very fine show with lots of classic hunting rifles to drool over. This time was no different.
As a project gun for last year I picked up a 1957 336 RC in 35 Rem. for a song.  The wood was not dinged up but had a heavy coat of varnish that was applied with a broom. The butt plate was missing. The bore was dirty but without pitting. The blue, well just let's say it had some left. This needed some TLC.
After hand polishing, a thorough clean up, new blue job and butt plate. a satin oil finish and the addition of Williams peep sight it looked great. Shot well too!
I've taken this RC to 3-4 gun shows in Southern Wisconsin all I got were a few looks but no serious interest.
The Fondulac show was definitely different. It would have seemed that no one had ever seen a rifle like this before. Within a half hour of my being there, I had at least 5 people wanting to know what I had and what I was asking for it. I always figure that I'm to be haggled with so I said that I wanted $375.  To make a short story long, I accepted $350 cash and 300 once fired 30-30s. I made a few bucks.
With all that quacking I though that I would get myself a cup of joe and set myself down a spell.  As I was sitting there a couple older gents were enjoying each others company sitting at a table next to me. I saw that a Marlin 36 was on their table and that a green sticker was on the stock. I just had to ask if the gun was for sale. It was. How much I asked. I received an amusing anecdote in response. I enjoyed it immensely as those 2 guys were life long friends but didn't hunt much.
Anyhow as they were speaking I was looking the 36 over carefully. The gun is a minimum of 85% to 90%. It has been well taken care of and shot little. The man said $450 and I said done! Glad that I went for that cup of joe!
The serial number puts it in 1939 -40. It is a true A rifle, 2/3 magazine, not checkered, hooded ramp sight. Really nice!
I think that I done good. What are your thoughts?

Here's a couple ways you can post a pic....it's simple and easy to do.

The 1st way is using a photo host, I like to use Photobucket

1. Upload the photo to your computer and save them in My Documents / My Pictures

2. You need a photo host. http://photobucket.com/ ........Its free!

3. Once you have an account at a photo host and the picture loaded in your pc you click on choose file by the Upload Images & Video box in Photobucket

4. Find your picture and doubleclick it

5. Photobucket will promt you name the photo with a title and then save the file

6. Once you've saved the photo in your Photobucket album run your mouse over the the photo in your album that you want to post and you'll see under the picture are some codes. its the bottom code labelled "IMG", left click on it so it highlights (blue)
and then right click on it with your mouse and choose "copy" then go to the reply post here at GBO and right click again and choose "paste" and your IMG code which will show up as a your photo when viewed. I like this better than the next way, but that's just me and you may find it easier to just upload straight from your PC.

The next way is straight from your PC.
click on reply just like you've been doing to reply to a post and to the bottom left of the reply box where you type you'll see "Additional Options"
click it and then you'll see Attach: and a Browse button to the right of the attach box. Click Browse and it normally is already at "My Pictures" if not  click the arrow and find "My Documents" and then
"My Pictures" and then your picture you want to upload. Double click on that picture and you'll see it load in the "Attach" box below and then just click post
