I was pleasantly surprised today when I went to the range and got the following results on a windless day. Both firearms are T3 Tikka's.
Always work up loads for your firearm because it is OK in mine doesn't mine it is OK in yours, such as age and condition and so on!
30-06 180gr. Hornady Interbond, Win. brass, Fed 210 primer, 56.6gr. H-4350.
3 shot group, 1st 3 shot, 1/2 MOA. 2730 FPS
6.5x55 120 gr. Barnes TSX, Win. brass, Fed 210 primer, 47 gr. RL-19
3 shot group, 1st 3 shot, just < 1/2 MOA 2850 FPS
No visible signs of any pressure problems.
I wanted to get a very accurate load and speed was not the primary goal. I sat there for about 10 minutes thinking things never go this well. Wondered if my earlier days of pushing speed was spreading groups. Shot the Deer gong @ 300yds and hit it in the heart. Copper marks itself easy to see on the rusted steel. I spent alot of time researching this winter for a couple loads one for Canada Whitetail and the other for Montana Mule deer. Decided with Interbond for the woods of Canada and TSX for the rolling hills of Eastern Montana.
Thought I would share this great day. All I have to do is load up my remaining components and I will have a nice stock pile of cartridges for this year and the future. Because I load only a limited amount of hunting ammo I weigh and hand trickle each load.
