High tech question
« on: April 20, 2008, 05:20:02 AM »
Someone told me he had a friend which i have no use for, he ordered a rifled sleeve for his barrel. They call it a Parrot but i looks like an ordnance to me,any way my question is how do you replace a sleeve and keep the sleeve from shifting when fired?

Sleeves are epoxied in place then a series of lock screws are set between liner and barrel in the muzzle.  You can find picture of how its done on the Switlik's book the  More complete cannoneer.

On the Parrott one screw for each of the three lands.  Also, putting in the vent piece helps lock the breech end.

The choice is yours about what to do with the old liner.  It also depends on how it was put in. If it was cast in place it will have to be machined out.  That is probably the best way to do a pressed in or epoxied liner also.
