Mount/Rings for Encore 44Mag
« on: April 17, 2008, 08:39:21 AM »
Just picked up my Burris 2x7x32 for my 12 inch Encore 44 Mag. Looking for some suggestions on a mount and rings. I am leaning toward the SSK TSOB, buy really don't want to send it in and wait. If I don't send into SSK is it in my best interest to go with 3 rings?  Any good suggestions?

Thanks, Gingus

Thanks for the replies! I like the clean look of the Burris DD Base and 2 Burris Signature rings, but i am concerned about scope slide. Is this a real concern with that set up? I like the idea of the strength of the weaver base and three Burris Signature Zee rings, but cannot seem to find a STEEL weaver style base. I can find the Warne steel base, but everyplace I checked is out of stock in the stainless (color) base. Any suggestions on where I can get a steel weaver style base in Stainless? Thanks for your assistance!

Thanks, Gingus

You could go with the Weaver Grand Slam.

Never had a problem with a scope moving
My Contenders use Burris with Signature rings and after 25years the scopes are still in the same place

DD won't slip with 2 signature rings.

Weaver style SS base try  Bullberry or Straton Custom they are pricey

Midway and Midsouth Shooters Supply has nickle DD bases and signature rings

I have a 12" 44mag barrel with a weaver mount and 2 weaver rings with a 4x Leupold scope . I have never had a problem, with better than 1000 rounds down the tube . I love the set up.

Ditto on what sk330k said ,  My SS 12" wears a weaver alum. base with weaver 30mm rings and a red dot , shoots real good , never moved.  My 357 Max has a weaver alum. base with Burris Signature rings and a 2X Weaver, nice outfit , hasn't moved yet.  I had a 460 Mag barrel , had lots of trouble getting the scope to stay put.  Ended up with SSK 6 screw mount , Leo vertical rings , 3 of them , seemed to have solved the problem.  Good luck
