1800's horse technology
« on: July 18, 2003, 05:45:20 AM »
Hi fellows,

I'm not a horseman, though I admire their beauty.  But I saw the forum and was curious enough to drop by and say howdy.

I think I can entertain a few of you with a reference I found recently, entitled "YOUNG'S DEMONSTRATIVE TRANSLATION OF SCIENTIFIC SECRETS"  It's an old book, but you can download it for free from several internet sites.  The reason it's interesting is that - among a host of other topics from wine making to electroplating, it also provides a whole bunch of 1800's tricks for training / treating illness / disciplining / etc horses.  It also has specific details on quite a few of the tricks that old-time horse-traders would use to swindle folks. (BG)

If your're interested, dig it out and Enjoy.
