tikka or weatherby?
« on: October 30, 2008, 04:00:37 AM »
I'm going to buy another new rifle after this deer season.  Pretty much settled on 300 wsm, but I'm debating between the Tikka T3, or the Weatherby Vanguard.  Anyone own either rifle, and care to comment?

Tikka.  I have 3 tikka's and love them all.  I've shot the vanguard in several calibers.  It's bulkier than the tikka.  It's good on accuracy but not quite as good as the tikka.  The tikka has a superior adjustable trigger.

I love my Tikka in 300wsm. It shoots in the 3/4' range and the recoil is not that bad for such a light rifle with the addition of a sims recoil pad. The only detractor is that it is built on a long action. I dont find it to be a problem at all as the Tikka is already much lighter than the Vangaurd. The trigger was also very nice right out of the box.

I own a Vangaurd in 257 Roy and I really like that rifle as well. The trigger was not as good out of the box but it is very accurate as well. If Tikka made a 257 Roy, I would have bought the Roy in a Tikka as I really like there Rifles but alas, they do not so I did not.

Buy the Tikka, you will like it.
