Last chance to talk me out of a Super Sniper scope
« on: March 27, 2008, 03:47:31 PM »
Ok guys this is the last chance to talk me out of a 16x42 fixed power Super Sniper scope. If you read the reviews you will not find a bad one. I will be using it for Groundhogs out to 600 yards. Here is the scope I plan on buying. http://www.swfa.com/pc-4306-231-super-sniper-16x42-30mm-rifle-scope.aspx I am about to pull the trigger on this in the next 10 days or so. Here is a link with some better pictures.http://cgi.ebay.com/SWFA-20x42-Super-Sniper-Tactical-Rifle-Scope-SS20x42_W0QQitemZ140197585717QQihZ004QQcategoryZ31714QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQ_trksidZp1638.m118.l1247QQcmdZViewItem If you can find me a better scope for $299.95 let me know. Thanks Dale

Well because you're set on the 16x, I won't try and talk you out of it.

However, if you were wanting a 10x, I'd tell you to save $120.00 and get what I think is as good if not better, that being the Bushnell elite 3200 a lot of us are appreciating lately. I want an elite 5-15X on my next one so don't count on me talking you out of the SS, looking forward to a little more zoom myself.

The SS is great, you'll love it. You still sound very uneasy about it, if you had your mind made up you wouldn't have started this thread lol!!!

Just buy the damn thing and enjoy it  ;D

You will get a lot more MOA range and a focusing eyepiece with the SS. Still hoping they will come out with the variable this Spring but it doesn't look good.

I have two of the SSs.  One is the 10x on my RR 20" AR15.  Love it.  And the 16x on my custom Savage 260rem heavy barrel that is my long range gun.  Very sharp, bright and virtually indestructible.  I have a Bushnell 3200 5-15x50 I am selling.  The SS is better even though it is not variable.

What happens when you see something close? I think that is a little too  much power and I would go with the Mueller APV or something along that line with the variable power due to your ranges from close to short. Dale if I am not wrong don't you deer hunt with this rifle too? In that case that power is way too high for shots that might be 10 yards out to about 250 or so.
The sportsman lives his life vicariously. For he secretly yearns to have lived before, in a simpler time. A time when his love for the land, water, fish and wildlife would be more than just part of his life. It would be his state of mind

I enjoy high power. Even when I am at the range shooting at just 100 hundred yards I would crank my Mueller 8.5x25x44 up to about 18 power anyways. I don't shoot to many Groundhogs at less than 100 yards so I really don't see a problem there. I hope to be able to buy a Remington VTR or SPS 308 sometime this summer for a deer rifle. If I can't manage to buy a new rifle dedicated just for deer I will buy a 3x9x40 Burris or Nikon for deer season. Dale
