This was on another forum , if McCain picks her  ,the other guys are toast.

That is the way i heard it ,and the way i read it on a news site a long time ago.
She just didn't like them telling her what she was going to do or something like that , then it got messy.
We were moving from there about the time we heard about it ,but the people of Alaska thought it was great.

No trhe story got twisted in the telling.  Sarah's sister was going through a rough divorce from the husband, who was and maybe still is a State Trooper, while Sarah was running for office.  Some think a conspiracy is at play because she fired the top Trooper and blame her because of this.  She nominated another and he backed out, due some stink or allegation regarding some sex scandals or something of the sort.  If the top Trooper didn't command his troops and enforce the law, he should have been fired for not doing his job without predudice.  If the nominee decides it is in the best interest to save his butt by declining the nomination, goog for him and good for the State.  I don't think Sarah is so dumb as to nominate someone under such detailed scutiny, as Alaskan politicians are going under currently knowingly, so must presume someone did not do their homework, when his name was submitted for consideration.  I mailed my absentee primary ballot today and I still support Sen Stevens and Young, maybe having a bit more skepticism, but still convinced they are the best candiadates for the job.

She is suing the Fed Gov .over the Polar Bear thing , and the rights to drill in her state.
Also she did order several Feds to leave the state ,and when they threatened her she involved her DPS  to have them removed.
Its all an on going deal Between her and Washington.
seriously i do believe McCain will do another McCain blunder and pick some numb skull who is nothing but a lap dog.
Hutchinson was another good pick , and Rice would just look like a copy cat ,but this election is full of weird stuff.
Can you guys believe this election has come down to this ? I knew it was going to be bad but this is insane.

Palin says she really wants to stay in Alaska , she has always fought the Federal Government, i don't see her wanting to become that,,, that she can sit up there and Ridicule .

Thanks deltecs , its good to hear someone who fells that Palin is about the only logical choice for the Republican party.
I hear people here say that if Palin is not on the ticket ,then they simply are not voting for McCain.
I picked this up off another site ,it shows Palin in a different light that people need to see instead of they mousy little Sarah .
Ads like this would be hard for Obama and Biden to overcome ,and it puts McCain in a better light also.

I had to go to town for supplies and am still there, so haven't dedicated as much time to respond or moderate my topics.  Now, I have to eat a bit of crow, as I previously posted I did not think Palin would leave Alaska right now to accept a VP position, not that McCain or his advisors would select her, even though her name had been tossed out there.  Now, I've got to say my previous conclusions were totally wrong and that I couldn't be happier with this decision.  I think McCain has a chance of winning the Presidency now.  I sure hope so and that this conclusion is not in error too.

One thing about the media is that it isn't all pro-dem and the right-wing media, of which there is a significant number, will bring a lot of good things to light about the VP nominate, then the fight will be on.  I think it is going to be verrrrry interestink - the dems will lie about this or that, the right wing press will set the record straight, as will Sarah herself. 

I just can't wait for her to come out swingin'.  I want to hear her lay out some leftist reporters who question her about politics, the environment, economy, her family and choices, and the Constitution and hope she does so at one of these widely publicized debates or press conferences or during her campaigns.  I think she is too good to deny or slander and I think the dems really fear this.  I think they will try and conjur up the 'fear factor' with her being as firm as she is but I think that almost anything she does will help swing undecided voters our way. 

Look at it this way - she cleaned her legislative house of corruption, keeps at it and maintains a hard eye on what's right and what isn't.  You don't see that anywhere else, do ya?  Wanna try neu yawk - the same guy who was the lookout for spitzer has made one public statement after another about corruption and politics in Albany and how it needs to be cleaned up and yada, yada, yada, and hasn't been able to do a dang thing about it.  Yet here is one woman who doesn't tolerate crap like that and moves on it fast.

Oh, as regards the feds in any state - don't forget that the state has soveringty (sp?) in many juristictional issues and it is the choice of the Governor to either maintain the sovergnty of the state or to agree with other positions.  This is one Governor you do not tell what to do, she tells you and you can either do it her way or take the highway.  Lots of folk have problems with that sort of an approach but those are the same folk who have a problem with any decisive individual. 

And I would love to see and hear her square off against dem-librul idjits like pelosi, biden and klinton.  I have no doubt she would shoot holes through their arguements as easily as she shoots hole through Moose.  JMTCW.  Mikey.

Amen Mikey ,The Media tried to fail her on the fact she got along with Putin so well.
Then the fact he called and congratulated her on the nomination ,but so did a lot of people.
It didn't get far after at least one Democrat had the sense to tell them that getting along with Russia is part of the job of being the Governor of Alaska !!
Russia is 53 miles away ,Palin and Putin got along because they got on a speaking level , and made consetions on fishing and ship traffic in the straits.
So what she got along with Putin ,it isn't like they were fishing buddy's or something . Publicly Putin said ( Sarah will be missed ,i only hope i can work as well with her replacement as i could with her ) .
Moving an off shore platform as big as they use up there requires a fleet of ships , this type of drilling went up 40% on Palins watch.
A project this large cant be moved in the regular shipping channels , it would tie up commerce ,so if you are moving one of these and you are close to Russian waters i think you need to let someone know.
Likewise when that Russian trawler was sinking and drifted into Alaskan waters ,its good that Putin called and asked if his air sea rescue Helios could come help the survivors ,Sarah said of course and if you need assistance let me know.
That is the most crowded ,dangerous water way in the world ,the weather alone will kill you ,and yes Governor Palin and the Russian PM seemed to get along well and work together , Does Obama or Biden have that kind of experience or relationship with Putin
McCain i think didn't want this getting out ,because like the media started to do , they made something out of it that wasn't there.
They said it was like Biden getting along with OBL ,or why should we get angry if Obama wants to go talk to Syria or OBL . For one ,Russia is a Country ,Putin is a PM ,and like him or not if Putin wanted to attack you he damn sure wouldn't use air liners ,or go hide in a cave. And you would know who did it ,and where he was and why he did it.
That story was hushed up real fast , because it was going to show that Palin did have more experience in international affairs , and much more than that of Obama or Biden.
Not only with Russia ,but China ,India ,and about any country who uses the straits.
And she did it on her own ,she didnt call Bush or anyone asking what to do ,and that is a big job keeping the peace in a 53 mile waterway that most country's in the  world have shipping in.
I'm not wild about women in politics either , but at this point in our country's History i wouldn't care if you were a unisex , one eyed yellow martian, if you could do the job, Govern by the Constitution , and put America first.
And if Sarah Palin is the one who GOD sent to Straighten out this mess ,then i thank GOD he did send someone , and i pray he sends the Angel of the Lord to encamp around her , protect her from evil ,and to keep her safe.
Guys we are very lucky to have her ,this whole thing was getting out of control , and Sarah will be taking a lot of Arrows now ,we need to stand behind her ,and the man who made this possible ,John McCain.

I'll tell ya ll right now that Sarah palin being nominated for VP is sooooo incredibly good for us s well as for the nation that obama and biden are runnin' soooo scared that obama has told his people to 'take the gloves off and treat her like any other 'guy' '. 

Obama - you dummy!  You have no idea how badly you have just shot yourself in the foot by telling your people to take the gloves off; but, you were right, smart and considerate to tell your people that 'families are off limits' - because once you start dumpin' on one of America's Soccer Moms, America's Football Moms, Basketball Moms and Baseball Moms are gonna crucify ya, and you know it. 

Actually, my wife said that it was probably michelle who told obama to tell his people to take the gloves off.  He is much too professorial and philsophical to think of something like that by himself, but his angry wife would easily, especially when she sees that type of 'typical American Mom' (which michell is not) get such an enthusiastic welcome on her first stage appearance.  Sarah has crossed many lines that touch on so many peoples feelings and I think America, or most all of it, will gladly elect her.  She is, after all, one of us and neither the obamas or bidens or klintons can claim that fame.

Some have said they would vote for Sarah but not McCain.  Well folk, McCain can't be such a dummy if he pulled that trick out of the hat.  And who knows, John is older and still suffers to this day from the torture he recieved at the hands of his North Vietnamese captors - that is the reason he cannot lift his hands over his head, or scratch the back of his head and why he is postured as he is.  It makes me sick to think of what they did to him, for five damn years but he never gave up or gave in and here he is, bent and scarred and never once giving up on this country, not then, not now.  And Sarah is right in the same vein, but I think she is stronger. 

John McCain may last through his first term as President but I think his health may preclude a second term.  But that will set the stage for Sarah, hoping of course she is as successful in her first VP term as we could hope, for the 2012 Presidential election. 

Now, here's a thought.  Ol billary may try and scoop the governorship in NYS in 2010 from ol blind Dave (spitzer's lookout) as a means to get the kind of 'leadership experience' obama and biden sorely lack - I believe she would then feel justified in trying another presidential bid but I also belive that with Sarah Palin on the scene billary has been consigned to the 'has been' group and although she may try, she will never be able to compete against someone like Sarah Palin.  JMTCW.  Mikey.

Drastic, yes.  But most likely stupid.  Getting the pro-choice/anti-abortion groups involved in Palin's family decision is one very bad move.  Making your own choice does not mean you have been denied the choice, it simply means you have already chosen.  These advocacy groups do not understand that and feel the only choice is the one the advocate.

I guess we all saw this coming , I don't know if McCain keeps her close in order to keep her from stealing his show ,or to Bask in her lime light.
On the Chicago politics discussion , I remember when i read the book put out from the Warren report ,that the politicians in Chicago bragged about getting JFK into the oval office.
They were also investigated in the events of his assassination.
Sarah is very popular ,and in just being herself she is stepping on a lot of toes who will stop at nothing to keep the control they now enjoy.
The story of Joan of Arch comes to mind , not that she is hearing the voices , but her popularity with what some feel like are the unwashed masses.
Sarah is already getting Death threats , more so than usual , and if it came down to her becoming the President , her entire security detail may need to be changed out with some other SS guards.
There is no gray with Palin ,people either love her ,or hate her , and some see her as setting back 30 years of what they feel they have accomplished.
Look how snobbish, and above all of us they act up in Congress. No way are they going to let this woman spoil their plans.
