The old 'Three screw' Ruger's had this same feature, but they lost it with the 'New Model Blackhawk' action. It can be retrofitted by changing the hammer and trigger to a Power Custom unit, but it's a $200 deal to do so. The Ruger 'New Vaqueros' have addressed this problem and are much better. I have bought a few older single actions by Uberti, and ASM where the gate did not line up either and it is irritating. But it is fixable on the Colt style actions. It is a result of the depth of the half-cock notch on the hammer and I have 'adjusted' a couple with a little JB Weld applied to the notch, then gently filed it until reaching the desired depth to line the cylinder up. I just send a new 'Gaucho' back to the factory for the same problem. If they don't replace the hammer and fix it, (they won't sell me a hammer to fix it myself because it has 'lifetime warranty') I'll get the JB weld out again! 44 Man.
