Hi,

Are there many matches with .22's instead of centerfires yet? Thanks. BA

SASS requires .32 caliber or larger.  That being said, we have one shooter who has extensive shoulder, elbow and wrist damage.  She wants to be part of the Cowboy experience so our club has allowed her to shoot .22's.  Her score doesn't count but that is not a problem for her.  She just wants to be with her husband and enjoy the pards and pardettes.

We sometimes shoot .22rf Rugers and Rossi 62 as a side match.  We just choose one of the stages and reshoot it with .22rf.  A lot of fun and fast and furious,

We're shootin' cowboy silhouette matches with .22 lever guns.  It just seems sort of natural when there is generally about 10 guys shooting big bore cowboy silhouettes too.

I can't see anything wrong with using .22's even if the score doesn't count. Most people have .22's and it is hard to justify buying 5 centerfire guns and reloading equipment on top of that. If they like it, then go from there. It might take more than a few matches to decide. I don't like to borrow other's guns either.
