Nothing but No. 11s
« on: January 06, 2008, 12:00:57 PM »
Don't know about your area, but here all the stores carry only No. 11 percussion caps. I'm thinking that if I want to swap out the nipples on my two Pietta 58s, I should try to find a good nipple that is a good fit with No. 11 caps. Anyone have advice?

Scroll down for #11 nipples.

At the very bottom of the page is a section labeled Revolver Nipples and these are #10 only.

Basically, #10 caps are for Revolvers and #11 for rifles, as that is the way nipples were sized.  Some revolver nipples are currently made for #11's but most are for #10's.  Treso, etc.

Odd, around the Minneapolis, MN area all I find are #10's, which are so tight that they misfire on my Uberti
made guns, and are not very good on my Piettas.  Cabela sometimes will have #11's, but I find that I have to order from Dixie Gun works to get any decent caps in Minnesota.  Even the gun shows don't carry caps at all.

ChrisD, Cabelas in Rogers has both #10 and #11 caps. Your choice of Remington or CCI.  I get my #11 Remington caps at Mills Fleet Farm in Alexandria, and there are a few Mills Fleet Farm stores in the Metro area, so you can check them out also.

:)   For years all I've been able to get were the #11's.    CCI and Remington both fit loose on my Pietta 1860 Colt replica .44, and CCI #10's are said to be too tight........

Just got hold of some NEW       Remington #10's,     and they fit perfect .

Advertisement  on their packages boasts these hotter caps have 40% more flame volume than the older ones.

.50 cal, I'd be interested in where you found those Remington #10s - I can't seem to find any and they're the only one's I've found to properly fit my Pietta Remington.  PM me the details, thanks!

I'm out in the Mojave Desert of CA, in the City of Lancaster a place call THE GUNSHOP sells CCI#10 &#11  box fullof each right on the shelf. I think they are on line I never checked. But they don't sell Remington Caps, only because of the Hazmat Fee do to the large quantity they would have to order.  I buy both CCI10 & 11 I have a Pietta 1860 (10yrs old)takes 10's Pietta 58 Rem takes 11's Uberti 58/11's Armi SanPaolo58/10's Euroarms SS 58/10's Uberti Navy don't remember think I honed the cones to take 10's if I use a dowl a 48 Colt Dragoon NYC 11's. I use 11's on all of um by simply squeezin' um so they stay on under recoil. Fingers get sore but I still have fun. So I gotta get both cause I can't afford all new Treso Cones and buy more Revs too..HeeHee!
See you guys again,
SG

Here's some caps, hell all I had in my computer were 11's too...your're right nothin but 11's

Smokin_Gun; I use to visit my sister away out there in the deserts of Lancaster.  I still remember those ugly Iguana lizards out there.
