Oregon sea fishing
« on: March 01, 2008, 07:02:33 PM »
I am planning on being on Oregon coast the third week of march.  Is this a good time for salt water fishing of any kind.  Does any one know of good guide in Depoe Bay for this.  Thanks in advance as I have never salt water fished before and have not received reply from emails i have sent to a fishing place listed on internet there.

Well, I live in Washington, never fished the coast in Oregon, but here goes. Fishing for rockfish should be ok, weather permitting. Up here our Salmon and halibut season is summer and fall. Long trips out for Albacore is also late summer and fall. I'd suggest a call to area Chamber of Commerce for listings of charter boats. Go on line to Oregon Fish and Wildlife, see what is in season.
I've often traveled through the Oregon coast; wonderful area!!
Good luck,
Mark

If you are going to be anywhere near Nehalem Bay,the salmon  run is good then and you can crab there as well for very nice Dungeness crab...YUM!
