Shot the 6Br this week.
« on: August 01, 2003, 05:42:45 AM »
Finally got out and shot my 12" Bullberry 6Br on Wednesday. It functioned flawlessly. I have a $40.00 scope on it that leaves a lot to be desired. First loads with H322 also. My favorite scope so far is the 2x6 Bushnell Trophy. I have had a lot of them. Any suggestions? Javalina...you out there? :P

Moe,
The best advice you can get on this forum is the things that PJ will tell you.  This guy is just amazing.  Ask him or PM him and I will bet you $2 he will be your best source of info on the 6mm BR

Hi Moe,

I'm glad to hear you got some seat-time with your 6 BR.  How did your H322 loads group?

It's funny you mentioned the 2-6x Bushnell Trophy.  I've had excellent luck with them in the past, and currently own several that perform flawlessly.  My Bushnells are brighter and more clear than my 2.5-7x Burris scopes, who knows why?  They both seem to work equally well, but there is a distinct difference in price as we all know.

I have a 6 BR ordered that won't be here until much later in the year, but I will be putting a 3-12x Burris on that barrel (15" SS Bullberry) when it arrives.  We all wish we could have these toys yesterday, don't we?  The waiting is tough when you want to play with em now!

There are a lot of good sources for the 6 BR load info - I wish I had some background to be of good help here, but honestly the best I can do is point you toward the current reload manuals and some of the benchrest folks who have been using that cartridge for a long time and know more about its capabilities than I do right now.  I'm sure there are some folks with a good amount of experience right here on this forum who will be glad to let you have the benefit of their knowledge.

Good luck with that 6 BR!  I'm jealous!   :D

howdy moe :D  i only have one load so far for my 13" 6br encore barrel. it's a super deer load. 27.5gr h322, sierra 80gr sspb, cci br-4 primer, lapua brass. it averaged 2800fps for 5 shots, and i have shot 5 shots less than 1" at 100 with the load. i killed a doe last year at about 125 yards, maybe more. the bullet performed great, and i was really impressed with it. i've tried about 3-70gr loads, and one 60gr load but havn't found a good combo with those yet. you may try some h335 also, to see how it does. i plan to try it, and also some 55gr nosler bt's, or 58gr v-max's. i'd like to have the 80gr load for deer, and a lighter bullet load for whatever. the 80gr bullet would work on about everything, but will not be really explosive on small critters.
the 6br just begs for a burris 3x12. i have three of them, and love em. i put a burris 2x7 on my 30-30AI contender for it's extra field of view in the woods. 8)

Guys, thanks for your replys. The load I have is 27.0 H322. At 50 yards I had two almost in the same hole with a flyer(me I think). At 100 yards had two at about 1 inch with a flyer. The barrel is throated for the Sierra 80 gr SSP which is all I have loaded right now. I was thinking of that 3x12 scope, but I think I will get another Trophy instead.
J...did you see Reeders web sight. He has a 16" Encore 41GNR#2 ready to go...its killing me

Hi Moe,

I DID see that 41 GNR #2 you mentioned - if it had been SS it would have already been gone.
