« on: April 29, 2008, 08:08:32 AM »
Ok, i saw the thread Altlaw started, it had a few chamber pressures listed, but not all available handi chamberings.
so i looked in the FAQ's and didnae find them there either, so im asking where can i find them.
im primarily looking for low pressure rounds

If you mean the SAAMI MAP lists, here's a couple.

Yep those are what i was looking for, thanks.
what would you consider the cut off point for a low pressure round, 30,000 or more ? i see the 30-30 listed as 42,000.

That really depends on the maximum inside case diameter, not pressure alone.  The larger that dimension, the lower the pressure a firearm can safely handle due to the case head thrust.

Thanks LoneStar, thats something to keep in mind, and it makes sense. the brass makes pressure over a larger area as the head is of a larger diameter.
but lets say you have a round that generates  30,000 psi. and another round that does the same, but the brass is of a larger diameter, would not the pressure be spread over a larger area and therefore not concentrated in one spot , like the firing pin hole ? ( like crawling on ice and not walking on it, not falling thru ) ?

Stimpy, yeah i got somethin going on. but i tell ya, it just a barrel swap. in the past, i said " i will be offering" and then i got an PM saying " put a price on that" or i had was going to get my post removed type stuff, and i can understand that, but for now i just want some advanced info on what i may want before i post up anything.
i laughed when i read your comment, i thought " man so of these guys really really watch these threads"  :D .. Pm coming your way
