My Christmas present arrived
« on: April 09, 2008, 11:33:18 AM »
I got this Accuracy Innovations laminated stock for my Christmas present. The rifle is a M70 stainless classic 30-06 with a Pentax Lightseeker 2x8 mounted with Leupold DD matte rings.

Looks great Dave.  I have been interested in their stocks.  How did you like the fit into the bedding block?  I have a Savage .223 that I have gotten to like, and want to upgrade from the synthetic I bought it with.  The AI stocks look really good to me.

Hmmm now I don't normally like laminate stocks but that one looks rather nice and I like the classic styling unlike some of the one shown on the web.

Not for sale. I've got too muchin it now. I haven't had a chance to shoot it. Trying to work out some hopefully minor health problems.  The barreled action went into the stock like it was going to the promised land. The inletting in the barrel channel is a bit more open on one side. The stock is heavy BUT if you want a laminated stock that won't delaminate or be too weak you have to accept the weight. It's like buying a 4x4 truck, don't expect great gas milage (petrol to Brithunter  ;)) as there's no free lunch. The fore end is a little thick along the barrel. Rather like the older Ruger 77 stocks with narrow flats on either side of the barrel. The fore end is not as thick as the pic makes it look but IMHO the stock would look better with a more rounded fore end. AI has a feather weight option and I don't know how it would look. They can't do the ebony tip and the feather weight option.

Not the best pic.

Dave, what is the weight of the rig just as we see it?  Oh, might as well add a carry strap and 4 rounds of ammo.  :D

Thanks for sharing the info Dave.  I like the idea of that bedding "chassis" for an aftermarket stock, and have always been impressed with the appearance and apparent quality of their stocks.

Nice Dave, but IMO, It was an Easter Present, not a Christmas present! :D

Cement Man , one nice thing about the bedding block is the front swivel stud is threaded into the bedding block and not the wood or a nut.

Since there was a request how it shoots here it is. I'm no bench rester.
The load is 56gr H4350, hornady 165gr flatbase, and a Fed BR primer.

The 50 yard target was for getting a basic zero. I pulled the one shot @ 100 yards rushing to get it off.

I had to use my PAST recoil shield to help dampen my heart beat affecting my shooting. (the sun was in my eye, I had a rock in my shoe, it wasn't my day .....) ;)
