What time of day is best for turkey hunting?

Just shot my first bird of the season this morning at 8:50 cst.  I am usually in the woods by 5:30 and other than 1 bird last year that I shot at 7am all my birds  are shot around 9-11 am.
I live in farm country and can be hunting in 10 min from my house but usually only hunt until about noon.  I don't hunt in the late afternoon, I like mornings, but maybe I should.
And now it stays light until around 8pm. 
 What time of day have you had your best luck, and do you use any special tactics for late afternoon/early evening hunting?   And I live in NE corner of Kansas.

And If you have read my other posts about deer in my decoys, yesterday and today also.  Maybe I'm a natural attractant, should bottle my pee.  I'll of course give all you guys a discount.

i like morning the best and it does seem that a lot of birds are taken between 8-11 but you need to start early. Anytime of the day you may get one so the best advice i can give you is go when you can!!

The first time I went turkey hunting was just before daylight, had birds roosted from the night before, some yahoo snuck in ahead of us and blasted the birds while they were still in the tree in the dark! So I've never done that traditional type of hunt since in the last 15yrs, earliest I've been in the woods is 8:30, have killed birds any time tween then and 3:30 in the afternoon, with 11-2 being the most common times for toms to come a gobblin, and those lonely old Merriams do get hot lookin for hens. I really feel those that can't hunt after noon would really miss some hot toms.

What time of day is best for turkey hunting?

IMHO, it's anytime you can be in the woods. Wisconsin allows us to hunt turkeys from sunup to sundown and I have taken turkeys virtually at anytime during legal hunting hours. When it comes to success, whether you "run and gun" blindly calling till you get a response, or have the birds patterned and wait in ambush, you never really know for sure when ol' Tom is gonna make himself vulnerable.

That said, my favorite time to hunt turkeys is at daybreak. There's nuttin' in the world like being in the spring woods when it first wakes up for the day.
