Choke Tube Cleaning?
« on: June 13, 2008, 04:00:20 AM »
What's a good tool and solvent to clean the plastic from wads out of choke tubes? An internet address on where the items can be purchased would be appreciated. Thanks.

There is nothing better to clean shotgun barrels and choke tubes than those fuzzy rods made for that purpose it is what I use mostly for cleaning my shotgun barrels. When I do otherwise what I will do is run a patch wet with Hoppe's #9 down the bore and the push a couple of Kleenex down the bore with a rod to push out what has been loosened by the Hoppe's soaked patch. Those two methods are the ONLY thing I do to keep my shotgun bores clean.

I usually run a "fuzzy" cleaning rod about 7 times down each barrel when I come home after shooting skeet. Every couple of months I take the choke tubes out and run a bristle brush with break free through them and a patch with break fee. I then re-coat the threads with a choke tube grease-that's it.
