Tell Me About The Encore
« on: December 08, 2003, 06:10:10 AM »
Almost bought one of these last year but was foolish enough to buy Christmas gifts instead! :D
It was chambered for the .223 and balance seemed to be excellent.

Will this gun give me the "Lights-Out" effect on the coyotes that I get when using my RugerM77 in .22-250?
Hopefully, it would preform well inside of 250yds.

Sorry for not being more specific. I was looking at the pistol with the 12" barrel in the .223 cal.
I can see a couple good things about this model. Being a single shot would allow for no crimp on the bullet and the capablity of seating the bullet up close to the rifling.
Would also be easier to carry as us flat landers sometimes walk 1/2 mile one way just to keep the vehicle out of sight.
We do have woodlots, river bottoms, and some of the thickest brush that you can imagine.
It is important that the coyote will be knocked down quickly for this reason.
Is 200yds and closer too much to ask with good bullet placement?

The Encore has a heavy frame for MAGs. You may want to consider the newer G2 Frame it's a littel lighter.

250 yards is a long ways for a pistol shot?  How long have you been hunting with pistols.  I have never done anything other than shoot 50yds or so with .357 and 9mm+ Have hit a few and missed more.  I have always had that problem, miss with one, shucks, miss with all of the rest of them.

I never could use one of the LERs.  It is just a tad bit radical for some of us ole fogies.  Other words starting with f is alright too.
