.410 CVA,

Saw one in Odessa TX.  years back. It was a really neat little double barreled percussion shotgun. Haven't seen one in use. I have kicked myself several times for not buying it. Anyone else seen one of these ??  R Jones

yep . never bought one, though i looked at them pretty hard . i grew  up shooting a .410  and have taken most everything from sandhill crain to  turkey and geese with one .
Auction arms used to haveone that was always up for sale .

 the thing i didnt like about the CVA model was the short barrels .
 so i decides i would just make my own . that way i could make a flinter .

sometay i have to get that project finished up .

Never saw the 410 but I have several CVA catelogues from 25 yrs ago, and they had so many one season wonders that would be added and then dropped from the line, even some that didn't make the catelogues.  I remember seeing a CVA Zouve.  Never saw it in any catelogue.  And then there was the Prospector pistol, a take off on the tingle target pistol.  I have only ever seen the Prospector in the catelogue and never saw one in real life.  I have two Italian target pistols (muzzleloaders) from a company called Palmetto, and Palmetto claims to know nothing about the ones I have.   (Darn good Shooters too!)    CVA probably sold a couple dozen of these rare bird guns.  There was a 20 ga single perc with interchangeable chokes.

 i have a CVA 20 SXS  that i converted to flint .
 i also know of a  fella localy that has a .410  i tried to buy it a couple times but he keeps it for his grandsons

I think there is a real shortfall in todays selection of guns for muzzleloader fans.  Pa legalized 50 caliber flint muzzleloader pistols for deer and as far as I know, no manufacturer has offerred anthing.  I even sent Lyman an e-mail suggesting they offer their pistol in flint, not even so much as an acknowledgement.  I even thought about having some drop in smoothbore barrels made for the TC, Lyman and Italian Hawkens.  Nothing big, maybe 28 ga about 30 inches long.  However, before I could get prices, the dollar went to crap against the Euro and the cost skyrocketed.

OT, but Pedersoli still lists the .50 Cal Kentucky pistol in flint, I had the standard model for many years and won many matches with it, Dixie lists a bunch of flint pistols.

I have a traditions 50 cal flinter pistol,,,,,,,, well that's what they called it.  It won't spark reliably.  It would be more reliable if I put a lit glowing piece or rope in the jaws.   I have had it 20 years and only fired it three times.  Guess it is time to work on it.  First thing, I'll try an English flint instead of the agate it came with.
