What are you loads for a .358 winchester ?
« on: June 12, 2008, 10:04:00 AM »
The powder I used to use AA2015br is no longer avaibale.  It would give a .250 grn speer2350 in my short 20" blr81.and was very accurate. I have not been able to find any to substitute forit that are safe in my rifle. I tried 748 a load from a Barnes book 53/748/ 250 speer but it fills the case neck almost to the top, scares me as that is the only book I have ever seen the load in and they dropped it in the next edition.
Would you share any loads you use for a .358 win. and .250 grn bullets.

Country Boy:
I bought some 2015 just the other day. They changed the name from AA2015BR to just 2015. Same company, Accurate Arms.
I didn't try to contact them, but I would if I were you. Telephone 406-234-0422

Frank, I called them. Couldn"t make much sense out of what the guy was saying. He said they didn"t have a new load book and only sent out pamphlets. My dealer said he ordered one ? Any way the xmr 2015 isn't the same and gives less vel. So I'm still on the hunt for a powder that will give 2350 out of my blr81 with a 20" bbl. Thanks for your help[

varget and a Hornady 250 RN took a 9PT 200# Load was remade nickled 30.06 brass wwwlr 50 gr in my 22" vanguard  mv 2360
H335 and Speer 250 same nickled brass- and primers-- 46gr. in my 22" v guard- 2390
H335 is more accurate for me than the varget but it is and extreem powder - not temp affected and is good enough -- if I am open land hunting and not the swamp -I will use the H335-- it will exceed 2400 by quiet a bit if you want and can -- but I don't
also have 18.5 ruger- but only shoot 200 and 220 in it

Try Accurate 2520 it should get you there easily and safely. It got me 2300 fps with 225s in a .358 JDJ with 14" barrel. With the JDJ you must keep pressures lower than with a .358 Winchester and even tho the powder capacity of the JDJ is a bit more than the .358 Winchester I'm sure it should get you where you want to go. Accurate is now in their Third Edition I believe but am not certain of it on their manuals. I have only Numbers one and two but am pretty sure a third is now out. They also have data on their website.

Thank you that is ecouraging. I'm really hot to get one of the new Rugers in. 358 I had a .350 mag classic but I sold it. With full power loads it would really thump you. I find the .358 just right for me. I've taken a bunch of tough critters with the .358 and it doesn"t seem to kick.
