fur Buyers? anyone?
« on: October 23, 2008, 06:08:46 AM »
I live in east central illinois in Jasper county and I was wondering if anyone knew of any fur buyers in Illinois.  I go to school down by St. Louis so anywhere along 70 would not be out of my way.

Thanks,
Matt

I know there used to be a fur buyer north west of Effingham.  I do not know his name, but if you ask around I'm sure someone can point you in the right direction.

Groenwald Fur Co.  google will probably show you their website and schedule.  They come to a truck stop in Effingham every ????

You'd probably come closer to getting one if you ask on the Trapping Forum here.

I am going to have to look hard myself. I used to take the hides into a fur buyer in Springfield who would show up at a designated car lot once a week.
The last three years I would give my hides to a co-worker and trapper who would ship what I had along with his. This guy has since moved to PA.
Graybeards advice is good as you could check the trapping forum here or better yet, try to contact your local trappers to see where they are selling.

I was talking about it with some of my friends here at school and found out how small of a world it actually is.  One of the guys' dad buys hides and the best part is he is located about 30 mins from my house back home.  I would have never believed it.  I have to get some more information from him and I'll let you know.
