NEF Sidekick Replacement Ramrod
« on: May 07, 2008, 04:58:55 AM »
I hate the ramrod that comes stock with the Sidekick.  I want one that is easy to carry in the ramrod "port" of the gun itself for hunting, but not have to extend the ramrod for loading.

Are there any options without having it extending a few inches past the barrel?

Any options?

See the Hubbard's replacement rod sticky.

I should have mentioned that I already knew about that one.  I'm looking for something that doesn't need to be extended.  Is there such an option without having it overhang the barrel when in the ramrod "slot"?

As Tim referred to, the Hubbard's replacement rod is MUCH better quality than the OEM item.

As far as not needing to be extended for loading/etc. you don't have much choice, as the length available for storing/carrying the ramrod is limited by the forend mounting lug.
Even if that wasn't present you'd still have the length restriction imposed by the forward end of the frame extending inches ahead of the back of the breech.

K, thanks.  That's what I figured.  I was looking at the T/C PowerRod and a few other after-market rods including the T/C Light Weight Universal Rod.  I guess I'll just deal with what I got and get a different rod for the range.

That's what most folks do is use a range rod and just use the original in the field for hunting. Kurt

Last season I used the Hubbards replacement rod for my Huntsman and I was really pleased with it.  I highly recommend it and the 25ACP breech plug.
