Guess I am a Marlin man now
« on: February 16, 2008, 05:50:32 PM »
Well in one week I went from no Marlin lever actions to two. Last Saturday I picked up a new 308MX. Nice rifle pretty wood. I am going to top it with Millet rings and bases along with a Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40. Well today found a real nice 336 made in 1970. Has a few scars and scratches but overall in good shape. Now I am more excited about this one than I am the 308MX. Gonna give it a real good cleaning tomorrow. I think I am going to top it with a Bushnell Banner 1.5-4.5x32. Man I am ready to go out and shoot these fine rifles. ;D

holahead ...

Good for you. Because I took Swampman's advice on scoping my latest Marlin. a 336CS 30-30 (1985), I feel my setup is just right for me. I got the same 1.5-4.5x32 Banner scope with a Weaver single piece base (63B), and Weaver Quad Lock rings. I had never scoped one of my lever actions before but I am very happy with this setup.

Post some pictures of your new rifles ... it helps convince my wife I am not the only one having "rifle buying frenzies" all the time.

It's easier to sneak new ones into the house when they all look alike;)

Holahead, you just need to explain to your wife that sometimes when you leave guns in a dark safe with other guns, every once in awhile when you open the safe, you find a new litttle gun in it. It's just nature  ::)
