I have recently purchased a Thompson Center Omega,
which came with TC light pipe opensights.
I'm to go on an elk hunt on September 10 here in Colorado,
where we're only allowed to use open sights; no scopes, etc.
The problem is that the adjustable rear sight seems to be
"maxed out"; that is, I adjust UP or RIGHT and still shoot
in the same spot on the paper. Fortunately, that spot is
dead on at 50 yds, but my concern is that I'll have to hold
high for shots beyond that range.
Should I :
1) be happy with my dead on at 50 yds and hold high for further
(don't really expect to be shooting past 100 yds, so I'd only have
to hold about 3 inches high or so for such a shot)
2) throw out my sight-in work to date, get some new open sights
(what kind? where? how do I avoid this in the future??)
3) other???
Thanks for feedback!
