I am in the very northwestern corner of NC, bordered by Tn and Va in the mountains. I was wondering if anymore GBO members were from around here?

I'm from Hickory, but I have hunted up in that part of NC. I was on a hunting club in Avery Co two years ago. I would like to hunt in Ashe or Alegany.

We have 3 public game lands here in the county, but I have never hunted on them. I have been lucky to have people let me hunt on their land, but that is also changing around here with alot of the land being sold and developed. I have lost some excellent hunting spots to this and will lose more in the future. I will probably start looking at the game lands especially for archery season, there are not as many people in the woods then. I use to read power meters and have seen alot of deer around the game lands so who knows, I may luck up.

Marion, NC here. I hunt on my brother's place locally, and joined a club in SC for this year. I hope to have another good year, got 6 last year between local and Alabama.

Gun season opened in zones 3,4, and 5 in SC on wed. Nobody been hunting yet? I'm going on monday, don't care if it is 95 deg.

Yes, they went from 8 or 9 zones to 5 this year. The regulations are now available on line. I printed the tangled mess out and finally made a little bit of sense out of it! Still plan on going monday and tuesday.Down near Columbia. We have 300 acres leased there and 3 tracts up near Gaffney. They don't open up til Oct 1st for muzzle loaders and Oct 11 or 12 for rifle. Sept 15 for bows.

well i was going to go to the lower part of sc to bow hunt today but unforntuntaly i can't since the family wants me here because some family from kershaw are comming up. this means i can't hunt bow season this year since it was the only weekend i could.

Went to SC yesterday. Saw a couple of does EARLY in the day, like still dark. Nothing in the evening. I guess deer are smarter than hunters. they stay in the woods and don't move around much in the heat of the day. Don't think I'll go back til it cools a bit.

Just got the update on SC hunting. One of uour members killed a nice 8 Pt. on the 15th. They said it was about 120 in. worth of horn on the deer. Oh well, I'll try again next week.

Hi back to you Stan. I was down in your neck of the woods this weekend. Muzzle loader hunting near Richland. Got one, as a matter of fact. Just a spike, but the freezer was getting empty.

I'm not Stan, but I've circled all the doe days on my calender. Oct. 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, 27 are the doe days for this month. Hope that helps.

I was using one of the cheap Spanish in-lines. I bought it several years ago for $139. The trigger is awful, it kicks like a mule, and it kills everything I aim it at. I use 100 gr. of loose Pyrodex and 385 gr. Hornady great plains bullets. It doesn't shoot sabots or Power Belt bullets for beans, but the big conicals do well. I had several pounds of the loose powder, so I've never got on the pellet bandwagon yet.

Dad has had a place around Pond Mountain for about 36 years.
