Yesterday I took my first Turkey with my huntsman that I had a factory fitted 12 gage interchangeable choke 25 inch barrel. I Started hunting at first light and watched 3 jakes and a tom following 2 hens around a picked corn field. After sitting a few hours IN the unseasonably cold windy weather, I decided that I would go get my mom her mothers day present and do a little scouting. At about 11 am I decided I had just enough time to go back in the woods behind our little country church. I sat down in a dead fall looking over a dead log. I got my gun set and a Gave a few clucks on my call. In a matter of seconds I could see a blue and red head coming through the woods. The turkey got to about 35 yards and stopped looking for the source of the calls, I had the bead lined up on his head and fired, the turkey when down and then was back up trotting slowly off, I quickly reloaded and fired again and he went down flopping. All told from my first call to me firing was no more than one minute, what a rush. I will Apply for turkey again next year.
