WAS set on an Encore
« on: November 06, 2008, 03:48:33 PM »
Liked the idea of using the gun for more than one thing, but more importantly I want a really good muzzleloader...

I will be shooting conical bullets (elk hunting in CO) and was told that the Knight's did better than the T/C's with these.  I'm new to ML shooting - - other than cannons.  I looked at the KRB, but was told to go with a DISC EXTREME.  My question on the general ML forum was why not the Revolution instead of the EXTREME?

I have to follow the Colorado rules so:  no scope, no pelletized powder, no sabots...

I appreciate any input.  Looking for the best I can get for $400-500.

Thank ya'll,

NitroSteel

If you are looking at Knight seriously, I would also suggest the Disc Extreme WAY before the revolution, for several reasons. The main reason would be ignition choices (FPJ or Non-FPJ), handles better (like a bolt action rifle, timeless design), no big clunky receiver with primer port (blowback at your eyes), and last but not least "you can't fix ugly" (self explanitory).

The KRB will not shoot Blackhorn 209 reliably (breech plug design), if that is even a concern?

Now if you really want a shooter for those Colorad elk get a White, I would suggest the 504. Really accurate and they shoot a humogous hunk of lead really accurate. Just My opinon. The Knight has a 1-28 twist not the best for conical bullets, Fantastic with sabots and lead bullets. Are Sabots legal? if so then the knight would be my second choice I own several. Lou
