handloading punishable by death in Kenya

I'm sure most of you read the "Fin Aagard's .375" article in American Rifleman some time ago.  They mentioned that Finn did not handload because it was a crime punishable by death.

I was just curious what the deal was over there...?

I don't know a thing about this particular law, but most of Africa has been in political kayos almost from the beginning of time.

Isn't it amazing that the government had the country running so smoothly that they had time to make up stupid laws like that??

I don't know but suspect it was intended to limit ammo supplies to the rebels, there are lots of ways to end up dead in Africa.

Got a friend on sabbatical there right now. He says their issues with AIDS outnumber all their other problems 100 to 1. Not likely they have time to be to concerned about a handful of lose bullets and some priimers.

Makes you wonder if maybe it isn't an archaic law  initiated by the British years ago to limit game harvests by the natives and to keep them from rebelling against the queen.....i.e. the Boer Wars. I believe  poaching is also punishable by death in some African countries.

It might not be PC to make this observation but in sub Saharan Africa the minute the English/Germans/Dutch/et al left, the Africans went right back to eating each other.  They practice genocide along tribal lines and extract retribution over slights, real and imagined, from 100 years ago. They have to pay exorbitant wages to lure non-african professionals into the country to keep their infrastructure from totally collapsing.  The aid we sent them is often pocketed and the food and goods we sent them is often repackaged and sold on the world market and the money pocketed by the despot ruler.  And used in part to pay his elite guard, finance his life style, and fatten his Swiss bank account while people starve in the streets. 
Their best and brightest they send abroad for educations at some of the best universities in the world and few of them return.  I mean, would you?

Definitely not PC but all too true. The media was outraged by what they deemed "excessive" actions by the South African police but now that apartheid is a thing of the past the media ignores the genocide perpetrated by the new African police and military, not to mention the barbarous conduct of various tribal factions. "Eating each other" is no exaggeration but an understatement.

beemanbeme &coyotejoe , the amount of that kind of thing that goes on is unbelievable , don't remember which country it was but they took all the farms away from the white farmers and now the people just starve as none of the blacks that took over know how to work the places .

Like cutting off your head so your not so ugly , don't make sense

I believe it was Ruwanda where they took over all the farms and kicked out the white owners.  Now they are trying to entice the whites to come back and manage the farms since they are all laying fallow.

I met with my financial guy last Thursday and he was telling me about his trip to Africa. He had just spent three weeks in some little country I had never heard of where his son is volunteering as a doctor for a year. He said the aids rate there was 40% of the population.

Maybe not the PC thing to say but the AIDS empidemic in Africa is a result of them using very little birth control.  They also have a population problem in many countries over there.  There are too many people and not enough resources to feed them....People are going to eat, drink, and you know....It doesn't matter if they can do it safely or not......

I believe there are something like 52 different countries in Africa.  And the world food bank sez they MUST have more money and more food or people are gonna starve.
