10mm Glock vs. Regular Diet of 200 Grain Buffalo Bore Ammo
« on: August 15, 2008, 06:13:19 PM »
I am taking my NIB generation 1 Glock Model 20 out of deep storage for possible use against black bear.  My question is whether the first generation model 20s are adequate in strength to handle a regular diet of 200 grain Buffalo Bore ammunition?  If I recall, correctly, the barrel is not fully supported and other issues come to mind as well when considering the strength of this gun.  Thanks for your input.   JHT

It is my understanding that Glock built the model 20 from the beginning to be able to handle the full power original loadings. The Buffalo Bore 200 grain FMJ is loaded about like the original Norma FMJ. I have run several boxes of the BB load through my Glock 29 with out any problems at all. It is a powerful load with lots of penetration. I usually practise with the Blazer 200 grain TMJ load to save on costs.

The gun will handle it with no problem.  If you are saving the brass for reloading, the stock barrel isn't the best with max. loads. I do get case bulging. I normally use my 6" Lone Wolf barrel for this. It gives better case support, and better velocity. Besides, it looks pretty cool, too!
