Hunting in Montana
« on: September 27, 2007, 04:30:04 PM »
I am in Texas and I have kin folks who own land in the state of Montana. One owns 40 sections north of Miles City this is where my mother was born and raised. The other is on the Western side near Idaho and the have around 600 acres. My question is what is needed to hunt in Montana from another state?
Thanks!

Two years ago My friend, who's parents live there, and I were on line and looked on the MT state web site and put in for tags on the Internet.  We were drawn.  I think the tags were $750 for the combo, plus license.  The last one was only $650 or so.
We spent 2 weeks there hunting, birds, Deer, and Elk.
A broken ankle did not slow me down for the second week.  You can't get drawn if you don't apply.  Some of the other tags like Antelope were after the March date and we could have applied for one of them when we did not get drawn for the combo tag.  But check the Website.
We were not drawn this past year.  And my friends wife would not let him disappear for a week or two to shoot a speed goat.
