Speer 13 says that .30-30 data is good for the .30 Remington. Don't know about the Lee Loader, they neck size don't they? Might well work.
On the 19th of April, 1775, a tyrannical government sent an army to disarm its citizens. They ran into a touch of trouble.

Longhunter:  The old speer manual #8 that I have shows the loads for both the 30-30 and the 30Rem. to be exactly the same for exactly the same powders being used, if you would like I can photo copy them and send them to you, just send address to my personal email. :D   JIM

All the old Lyman manuals show drawings for both rounds and say use the same data, but warns that lighter loads may not work the semi auto action of the Remington autoloaders.   I'd love to chamber a bolt gun in 30 rem...could be the king of all cast bullet shooters...less case capacity and longer neck than most other 30 cals.

Hey GRAY, what are your thoughts on this round for cast?

I don't see any reason why a pump action wouldnt be as good as a bolt.  The Model 14 pump is really built strong.

Long Hunter...I have read that the 30 Remington will handle hotter loads than the 30-30, also that the spiral magazine will handle soft point bullets.  I just use the 30-30 data, When I first got my 30 Rem, I used 30-30 dies and just neck sized the brass.  Even if you full length size them with 30-30, they will work just fine, but of course it is better to have the right dies.  I havent heard of a Lee loader for 30 Remington, but they could be floating around out there somewhere. You could probably neck size them with any short 30 cal, even a 7.62x39 would work if you have the .308 expander ball.
....make it count

Thanks for the replies,I assume that this is a model 14,don't know much about except I really love it.Its a sweetheart, quick easy straight shootin...I like it better than I did my old Winchester...yup I said it I really would rather hunt with this....Shot my bear with it last season, like it so much I have been half heartedly looking for one like it in 35 rem...and I guess then I would just have to have the 32 to go with them....Anyway It doesn't have a model # on it that I can find, the price seemed right and it just had "that feel" you know?

30 Rem
« Reply #6 on: July 19, 2003, 02:51:30 AM »
The 30 Rem is indeed the rimless version of the 30-30.  You can turn 30-30 into 30Rem brass by turning down the rim and cuttiing a grove but it isn't worth the effort.  30 Rem is still available but very limited. If I were you I would get a bunch of it if I found some.  Use 30-30 dies with a smaller shell holder.  Twill be a trick to find a smaller shell hlder. It is an uncommon size.  Good luck
