Well, you are a bit limited here, you could go to an improved version but that is about all with the current set-up, if you are willing to change out the barrel you'll open up to a lot more options. What is the goal? I know you want something different, but with what typ of shooting planned? Looking for very fast 7mm or just?

The foregoing was a good start. I would add, the 7 Rem Mag was designed to fit into the .30/'06 length actions. It has the very standard "belted rim" of the old .300 H&H. Find a catalogue with shell holders and look up the shell holder for 7 Rem Mag or .300 H&H... ALL the cartridges listed are possibles for your project. 7mm and above can be had with a rebore or re barrel. Under 7mm you have to re barrel or line the barrel, --a real pain. As suggested, you need to more cleary define your goal. If you just want "rare" you could rebarrel to .264 Win Mag. Those are scarce and just a .26/7mm Rem Mag basically. Look. Think. Study (especially the budget). It can be fun... but you need a goal to move toward. luck.

I`ve never started building a gun without have a special perpous for it befor I started. I have wildcats form .17 cal. to .411 cal. Most are varminet rifles from .17 to .25 cal. If your wantinf 1 of a kind how about a .50 BMG neckes dowm to .20 cal. I`ve seen the .50 cal necked down to 6mm and to a phonagraph needle but not to .20 cal. yet.  ::)

How about a 7mm rem ultra mag shortened to 30-06 length. It would give you a margin in performance in a 30-06 length and I'm sure no one else would have one.

You could get an wyatt magazine http://www.wyattsoutdoor.com/mag.html.  You could do a  7x300Wby or 7 Wby using the old barrel.

Look at the 6.5-.300 Win mag

It is one of the current darlings of the long distance shooters and will fit your set up.

Is your Remington Sendero chambered in the 7mm Remington Magnum?

We all need a 257 (your name here) Magnum, 257 Weatherby Magnum holds this spot alone but its .060" longer.  Cheaper brass and splitting hairs in performance.

264 Winchester Magnum.

270-7mm Remington Magnum.

30-338 Winchester Magnum. (308 Norma Magnum)

325-338 Winchester Magnum, <-- 8mm!

338 Winchester Magnum.

358-458 Winchester Magnum.

366-458 Winchester Magnum, <-- 9.3mm!

375-458 Winchester Magnum.

458 Winchester Magnum.

270-375, 7mm-375, 30-375, 338-375, 358-375 Ruger
