870 Stock Interchangeability?

I have these:
1. Rem 870 Express 12 Ga, may be Special Field because it has a 21 inch barrel... I just read somewhere that Special field models are so marked, so since this one isn't marked, it isn't a Special Field model...
2. Rem 870 Express 20 Ga, no special markings, Laminated stock and 28 inch barrel...

The question before the House is whether or not I can take the laminated stock and forend off the 20 and put it on the 12? I plan to sell the 20 as soon as I shoot up what shells I have for it. Opinions? Or better yet, knowledge?

1You list both as 12 ga., so I assume that the second one is the 20 ga. (how's that for deductive reasoning?)

Unless the 20 is really old, the frame and everything else will be smaller than the 12.  I had a 1960 ish 20 that had a large frame, but they changed sometime after that to make the 20 lighter.  I have a newer 20 that is smaller than the 12, and the stock won't interchange.

All newer 20ga 870's are considered LW-----so 20 to 12? Nope not doable.

I don't know if this info is accurate, but I have heard the Rem. pump and semi-auto stocks will fit on the 20 ga LW receivers.

Anyone know for sure???

Sorry - I meant the pump and semi-auto RIFLE stocks!
