A COMPUTER VIRUS RANT

The last two days I have spent HOURS trying to relieve my computer of a virus/worm I got because of my own stupidity.
I was on the computer when I noticed this little triangle--the yellow one with the "!" in it flashing---it is usually a display from Microsoft or Dell telling me of an update that they want too install---This time it was a warning that my computer was infected and if I wanted too remove the infection I needed too connect. SO I DID. Wrong-wrong-wrong.
It was a scam, a malwarrior scam, to gain money for doing nothing but further infect my computer.
I got rid of it--BUT--I swear that if I could find the individual responsible for putting this infection out there I would kill him.

Same thing happened to me. Cost me $60 at a 'puter shop to get it removed. I always had a sneaking suspicion that the company's that sold the virus and spam ware, had tech's writing this stuff up, just so you would buy the newest hardware to keep from getting this stuff.  gypsyman

I would think that  banishing him to the Cave of Kyre Banorg (that is guarded by that most foul, cruel and bad tempered rodent) may be appropriate...........death awaits with nasty, big, pointy teeth........

My anger has only receded a bit---the hand-grenade down the from of the pants is a thought I have at the moment.
I went looking , on line, for information on the wn32 virus and found this place for malwarrior. Don't open it  as it is only a front for them putting the virus on.
I so stupid.

I fell for the same thing about a year ago.  Ended up taking the computer to the Geeks to get it fixed.  (BTW that is the name of the shop, I'm not being derogatory).

There is a great little tool I use to clean many of the type of things.  It's free and it's called Hijackthis by Trend Micro.  Just do a Google it and find the Trend site.  Just make sure you READ THE INSTRUCTIONS cause you can really make a mess.
