I have alot of cast bullets made up A LOT. I was getting down some 4570 bullets for a buddy today that were on the top shelf and dumped the whole second shelf. There were probably 2-3000 sized and lubed .500 and .475 bullets that took a tumble onto the dirt floor in the barn. I lost them all! I about cried.

it might be cheaper to clean them and resort them than to recast them. Of course you'd lose the fun of sitting in front of that casting pot :grin: jh

Whatever you decide to restore in zip lock baggies will break under the unsupported weight of bullets but will roll and keep things clean and secure. I feel your pain, Gianni.

A warm up in the oven on the lowest setting should melt it out. Might get a cheap tin foil bake pan so your One and Only can't accuse you of messing up her precious pans. Stop to think of it, better wait 'til she's gone, then air out the house--lube is stronger than sache'. After they cool, pour paint thinner or 70% rubbing alcohol on an old towel, drop in a handful and roll around. Relube and you're done.

I've had it happen to me on a much smaller scale, 500-1000 bullets, and I decided that much the easiest way to clean them was to melt and skim. Mine came out of a six cavity mould in something under two hours so it did not take a lot of thinking.

However, my bullet storage unit is made from 2x8s, cleated, deckscrewed and screwed to the wall. It ain't coming down unless the building does and maybe not then.

That is truly an unfortunate turn of events.
I've read a lot of your posts and have the feeling that, like me, you take good care of your guns. I'll also assume that, like me, you wouldn't dream of dragging the barn floor through your bores. That being the case, I'd just bite the bullet and remelt 'em. Treat it as a learning experience.
(I know...it's easy for me to say.)
