M9 loads
« on: May 28, 2008, 10:38:01 AM »
I am in the works of getting a M9 (92FS)  IT should be in the dealers hand with in the next day or two then I have the Paperwork red tape before I get it in my hands.

Right now I am loading for three 9 MM  1 is a Marlin camp carbine, 2 is a Ruger sp101 and the 3 Rd is a T/C contender. For the Ruger and Marlin I have been using 115 gr and a load of 8.7 grs of blue dot. The Marlin loves this load I can hit a brick layers string out to 50 yards out of it with this load, The ruger doesn't care for it but shoots OK for the crude sights on it I haven't shot the T/C much to see if it likes it

I just checked my inventory and found I am all out of 9mm bullets so I have to decide on what bullets to stock up I know I am getting to get some 115 FMJ

What works best out of the M9- 115 FMJ 115 JHP 124 or 147 gr bullets For the military and police people what bullets and weight do you use out of your sidearm

Can't say what bullet and weight works best, I guess you could argue that the M9 was designed for 115 gr FMJ since that was the standard back in the 1980s.

However, the standard current military issue we use, M882 (A363/AA49), is a 124 gr FMJ @ 1230 fps.  When the M9 first came out, a 115 gr FMJ at the same velocity was the standard (also designated M882).  A 124 gr JHP is also currently designated (A260) which is loaded to 1120 fps (but it was a restricted issue item when I was in Iraq).  It was not unusual to have 9mm with commercial headstamps versus the military headstamps we were used to.

Based on Alliant's reloading data, your 8.7 of Blue Dot is above max for either a 115 or 125 gr pill but their pressure reading is below the SAAMI spec.  Additionally, SAAMI says don't use 9mm NATO (military) in 9mm (parabellum) just like you're not supposed to fire 5.56 in a .223.

Here's a link that claims the military equivalents 124 FMJ M882 using Blue Dot.

thanks for  the link. That very close to the information I found.

My listed load is listed is an older speer manual and is near a max load. ( NEVER USE ANYONE'S DATA WITHOUT WORKING YOUR WAY UP)

The only Mil load I found is the 124 gr at  1250  FPS.
