7.62x39 Handi?
« on: May 30, 2008, 03:02:29 PM »
I was in a gunshop today and they had a handi in 7.62x39. I put it on layaway. I looked it up and could not find where H&R had ever offered it. Anyone ever see one before.

Yes they used to offer them.  There were some problems with fail to fire the mil surplus ammo because of hard primers, however they are fairly heavily sought after.  Larry

Yup, the made them for less than a year, lots of complaints from those that tried to shoot milsurp as Larry said, so they discontinued them. They're real popular with those that shoot sporting ammo in them., see the links in the FAQs and Help sticky on them.

Bought one couple of weeks ago. Hope to get to the range with it tomorrow.
Let us know how yours does.

You'll love it.  Mine is probably the most accurate handi I own.  No recoil, reasonably flat shooting, and has the ability to be loaded mild or wild.  It is a hoot to shoot with 4 or 5 gr. of Unique and a 115 gr cast bullet.  Not as loud as a good hiccup, and it will mess up a small varmints world.  If you reload, you've got the most fun with a handi you can have without it being a 45-70.

Hate to drift the thread, but do you use any filler with the 4-5 grains of unique?
