Montana Bear Hunters?
« on: August 07, 2008, 04:35:20 PM »
Is anybody else bear hunting in western Montana this year? I just moved back to the state after being away for 20 years. I plan on hunting the Anaconda/Pintler Wilderness area.

I guess I haven't seen you over here before and want to say welcome as I saw your post on HHM.  I will be hunting black bear over here in the NW area of Montana around the Flathead Valley and up which can cover the north fork area up to the BC border that runs along the west side of Glacier National Park where grizzly bears can be encountered.

And then due north up Hwy 93 are many good areas, and then out west out Hwy 2 where there is plenty of National Forest areas with good bear populations.

Good to see you over here! I should be able to make a weekend trip or two up that way to hunt with my family. I've been seeing some sign around this area but nothing close to what you see up there. Good luck!

Aug 31st is the Fall Bear opener.

Can't wait to get out of the house and do some hunting.
